When Will Judging Take Place?
There will be a brief overview and setup on Sunday, May 28 at 7PM PT. Official judging will commence from 7:15pm-8pm.
Judging Criteria
- Originality: Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem?
- Execution: Is the hack usable in its current state? Is the user experience smooth? Does everything appear to work? Is it well designed?
- Applicability: Is the hack practical? Is it something people would actually use? Does it fulfill a real need people have?
- Presentation: How well was the project presented? Did it make the hack more compelling? Did it give a good idea of its purpose?
- Learning: Did the team stretch themselves? Did they try to learn something new? What kind of projects have they worked on before?
How Does Judging Work?
- Hackers submit projects on Devpost.
- Each team will present a 3 minute pitch (slides are optional), followed by 4 minutes of Q&A.
- Judges will watch 3-minute demo of hackers showcasing their project.
- Judges will rate each project they have been assigned in a shared Google Doc.
- We will average each team’s scores. The teams with the highest score will win the prize. If there is a tie, Hydra Hacks will decide the winner. No team can win more than two prizes. Hydra Hacks will check for cheating within the winning teams before announcing a winner.
